One of my most frequently asked questions is, what are some healthy snacks to eat on- the- go?! When I working full time in the hospital I was always looking for portable snacks to take with me that I could eat in the car on the way to work, in a hurry in the break room, or at the nurses station while charting. Today on the blog I’m sharing a long list of some of my favorites. Most of these snacks are high protein to help keep you full until your next meal!
- Protein or Nutrition Bars- Some of my favorites include: Perfect Bar, One1brands, Go Macro, Rise Bar, & Naturally Clean Eats
- No Bake Protein or Energy Balls– Two of my favorite recipes include my coconut almond cashew protein balls and my lemon lush energy bites. If you don’t have time to make them- Trader Joe’s has Enjoy Life Foods Chocolate Sunseed Butter Protein Bites that are SO good too.
- Greek yogurt with granola and berries
- Trail mix– you can make your own healthy version at home! Just combine dark chocolate chips, dried cranberries, cashews, almonds, and pumpkin seeds.
- Beef jerky
- Almonds or cashews with an apple
- Apple topped with nut butter and cinnamon
- Veggies dipped in hummus
- Peanut butter on celery sticks
- Chia seed pudding
- Veggies dipped in guacamole
- Protein Smoothie– my go-to recipe is my berry protein smoothie.
- Turkey roll ups with Laughing Cow Cheese and carrots– just roll up turkey slices with cheese and enjoy carrots on the side.
- Whole wheat wrap with peanut butter and jelly
- Rice cakes with nut butter and banana slices
- Hard boiled eggs
- Tuna packets with crackers
- Cottage cheese with granola and fruit
- Overnight oats– prepare it in mason jar to take on- the- go. Here’s my go-to recipe- banana bread overnight oats.
- Egg muffins- make with eggs or egg whites with spinach, onions, & bell peppers
Ok that’s quite the list- what am I missing? Do you have any favorite healthy snacks that you take on- the- go that I didn’t mention?
